Greg Beck Land Contamination Principal
Greg Beck has headed Cato Bolam’s land contamination team since 2019 and manages all of our land contamination work. As a Site Contamination Specialist under the Certified Environmental Practitioner scheme, Greg prepares, reviews and certifies land contamination reports as a Suitably Qualified and Experienced Practitioner.
Greg is a senior level and highly skilled practitioner with 25 years’ experience as a contaminated land specialist, in both New Zealand and the United States. His experience covers a wide range of projects from both the consulting and regulatory sides of land contamination. For Cato Bolam’s clients Greg undertakes the development, performance and overview of preliminary and detailed site investigations, remedial action plans, site validation reports, site contamination management plans and third party peer reviews. His experience with commercial properties includes soil and groundwater assessments for removal or upgrade of underground petroleum storage systems, aboveground petroleum tank farms, former municipal landfill sites and urban brownfield properties.
Greg offers particular value to our clients in using his experience and detailed knowledge of the relevant contaminated land guidelines and standards to design and perform site investigations that provide the information necessary to fully assess a site at the lowest possible cost. He has a professional and pragmatic approach to the remediation or management of soil contamination and ensures that each remedial action plan is tailored to the conditions and proposed development objectives specific to each site.
Greg has been married to his wife, Denise, for over 30 years and the two of them enjoy travelling internationally. Greg’s interests include brewing beer and sailing his 12 metre sailboat.
