Job description

Great ideas. Great content. Real ownership. Room to make an impact.

Want to take ownership of a well-established marketing programme and help shape what comes next?

At Cato Bolam, marketing is an important part of how we connect with clients, build trust, showcase our expertise and grow our business.

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Marketing & Content Lead to manage and deliver our marketing programme in consultation with our Marketing Director.

This is a role for someone who is proactive, creative and comfortable moving between strategy and execution.

You will help shape priorities, develop campaigns, create high-quality content, manage digital and social channels, report on performance and identify opportunities to improve how we market the business.

You will join us at an exciting time. Our new website is live, our marketing programme is well established, and we are looking for someone who can build on that strong foundation and take our marketing to the next level.

The opportunity

You will take day-to-day ownership of Cato Bolam’s marketing activity and help ensure our strategy is translated into consistent, high-quality delivery.

• Develop and manage the marketing strategy in consultation with the Marketing Director.

• Translate agreed priorities into an actionable marketing programme.

• Proactively identify content, campaign and business-development opportunities.

• Write high-quality articles, thought-leadership pieces, case studies, project stories, newsletters, advertisements, website copy and social content.

• Work directly with planners, surveyors, engineers, architects and environmental specialists to understand technical subject matter and turn it into clear, engaging content.

• Develop campaign concepts and take them through from idea to delivery.

• Design advertising, digital graphics, social content, eDM collateral and other marketing material.

• Create and coordinate video content for campaigns, projects, people and thought leadership.

• Manage and develop content across our Webflow website.

• Manage Cato Bolam’s social media channels.

• Plan and deliver integrated campaigns across website, social, eDM, digital advertising, print and other channels.

• Work with external digital specialists on SEO, Google Ads, analytics and website performance.

• Help strengthen our search visibility across Auckland and Northland for subdivision, land development and our individual professional disciplines.

• Manage the marketing calendar, suppliers and advertising commitments.

• Monitor and report on marketing performance and recommend opportunities for improvement.

• Help strengthen the connection between marketing activity, enquiries, opportunities and business growth.

• Use AI and other digital tools intelligently to improve productivity, quality and output.

About you

You are a strong all-round marketer withexcellent content instincts.

You can generate ideas, identify opportunities, write compelling content, create strong visuals, develop campaigns and use digital channels intelligently.

You are comfortable moving from strategy to execution and are someone who can set priorities and keep work moving independently.

You will know when to bring senior leaders and technical experts into the workflow to provide insight, subject-matter expertise or review.

One moment you may be discussing campaign priorities with the Marketing Director; the next you may be interviewing an engineer for an article, designing an advertisement, developing a video idea, updating the website, reviewing campaign performance or creating a LinkedIn post.

You will bring:

• Strong hands-on strategic marketing experience.

• Excellent copywriting and editing skills.

• Strong creative and content-development capability.

• Strong design skills and visual judgement.

• High proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop and InDesign.

• The ability to develop and coordinate video content.

• Strong social media and campaign-management skills.

• Confidence managing website content and creating new pages in a CMS, with Webflow experience an advantage.

• Experience interpreting marketing performance, including Google Analytics and Google Ads, and reporting on results.

• Strong organisation and project-management skills.

• The ability to quickly understand complex or technical subject matter.

• Confidence working collaboratively with senior leaders and technical specialists.

• Initiative and the ability to work autonomously.

• High standards and strong attention to detail.

Experience in professional services, property, land development, planning, surveying, engineering, architecture, environmental consultancy, infrastructure or another technical industry would be an advantage.

However, the ability to understand complex information, ask the right questions and turn that information into strong, credible marketing content is more important than having worked in our industry before.

You do not need to be a specialist in every marketing discipline. What matters most is strong writing, creative judgement, initiative, commercial awareness and the ability to turn ideas into high-quality marketing that gets results.
