The Details
We are proud to celebrate the opening of the new Whangārei Civic Centre in June 2023, which brings to Whangārei a central hub for its civic facilities and services.
Our team at Cato Bolam has provided all land development engineering services, including; flood modelling, civil engineering design, stormwater discharge consents, surveying for all civil construction and civil engineering construction observation.
Te Iwitahi, Whangārei’s Civic Centre, is the product of the Whangārei Council’s partnerships with local Hapu, community advisory groups, and local businesses and organisations. This community-owned facility marks the first time in more than 30 years that Whangārei has had a central hub for its civic facilities and services. Universal design principles, sustainability and an integrated cultural narrative are at the core of the building’s design.
The civic centre project was named as one of three finalists in the 2021 New Zealand Beacon Awards for best practice in construction procurement.
